People are busier today than ever, but that does not mean health is less crucial. In recent years, there has been a shift toward virtual care as more people struggle to find time to make appointments with their general physicians and dentists.

Seeing an online dentist is an innovative solution to this modern problem. Virtual dentistry makes it easier than ever to maintain ideal oral health, no matter how busy you are. This form of dentistry brings a world of knowledge and experience to the privacy of your home or other convenient location. Learn more about how speaking with a virtual dentist can improve dental health, from consultations to treatments.

What Is Teledentistry?

From ordering contact lenses to preparing taxes, we can access many of the services we use in our daily lives online. Virtual dentistry allows oral care providers to move toward a similar level of convenience and innovation. It consists of virtual visits and online consultations with dentists. Patients can talk to a dentist online.

What Service Is Included With Teledentistry?

Dentistry is a hands-on health service. Unlike some easy-to-treat medical conditions, dental issues often require physical care from one of our leading professionals. For instance, tooth decay isn’t healable with an antibiotic. Please understand that there are many limitations to what we can offer as online dentists.

209 NYC Dental offers the following services available for a virtual online consultation:

How Can I Book a Teledentistry Visit?

  • You can call the office at 212-355-2290 or request your consultation online.
  • If requesting online, please select an appropriate reason for your teleconsult.
  • The office will contact you to confirm your virtual appointment.
  • You will receive an invitation to a Google meeting with the link to your scheduled remote appointment.
  • If you are new to our practice, please complete the New Patient Forms before your appointment. The doctor cannot start your virtual visit unless we have your completed new patient forms, so we will need to reschedule your appointment.
  • Remote consultations have to be prepaid.

How Much Does a Consultation Cost With an Online Dentist?

Our fee for a teledental consultation is $75. The fee has to be paid prior to your visit. You can do so by paying online or by calling the office. Our receptionist will call you to collect the payment prior to your visit if we haven’t received it.

  • FSA & HSA cards can be used to pay for the visit.
  • This fee will be applied to your related in-office visit.
  • If you have dental insurance please complete our Insurance Information Form. We can bill your insurance on your behalf so you can get the reimbursement if your insurance covers virtual dentistry.

Benefits of Teledentistry

Online dental consultations are ideal for people who live far away from a dental office, do not have a primary dentist, or cannot make it into the office. Remote dental services offer a wealth of benefits for patients, including:

  • Convenience: Many patients already use mobile devices and computers to search for information related to healthcare. Through these devices, teledental care allows online dentists to provide easy initial consultations for specific dental needs.
  • Meet & greet: We have patients traveling from all around the US to address their dental needs. A teledental visit is an easy way to meet a doctor and discuss your dental needs and wants prior to booking your flight from Texas or Arizona.
  • Social Distancing: When you talk to a dentist online, you receive the same level of care as you would in the office. Seeing a virtual dentist just makes the process simpler and more comfortable.
  • Saving Time: Ditch the traffic and busy waiting rooms. Virtual dentistry lets you address dental concerns for superior peace of mind without disrupting your daily schedule.

FAQs

A dentist holding a set of aligners

1. Can you see an online dentist for tooth pain?

Yes. A virtual dentist isn’t advisable for dental emergencies. However, this visit can benefit those wanting to assess why tooth pain is happening. Virtual dentistry can allow a dentist to recommend over-the-counter solutions or home-based treatments that could eliminate dental discomfort.

2. Is teledentistry effective?

Absolutely. Remote dentistry allows online dentists to meet with patients in a convenient setting. Remotely evaluating a patient’s concerns can also help the patient save time normally spent traveling to a dentist’s office. The information learned during a virtual visit can serve as the foundation for future in-office cosmeticorthodontic, and other treatments.

3. Will my dental insurance cover an online dentist?

As online dentistry continues to gain popularity, more insurance providers are covering virtual dental visits. Our knowledgeable insurance professionals can review your information to determine if your provider covers remote dentistry.

Testimonials

I was very lucky to have had a referral for this Dental Practice. From the wonderful staff at the front desk, who were very helpful and those who checked on my insurance to see if I was covered and this was all before I even had the actual appointment. This was my first time for a visit and I was greeted as if I had been going there forever. I was informed of what to expect and after I filled out my paperwork a lovely young lady came so I could have my x-rays which went well; then the hygienist came and got me - she looked over my x-rays and asked me some questions and then proceeded to clean my teeth. She did a wonderful job. Then the dentist came in for further examination and discussion of what my next steps should be. He was a wonderful doctor. This was a wonderful experience. Before today I was with the same dentist office for approximately 40 years and always adored them unfortunately, they retired. So, I am extremely thrilled to have found such a wonderful dental office and staff at 209 NYC Dental. I look forward to building a lasting relationship.

Dr Wang is the best periodontist I’ve seen in nyc! He went above and beyond to fully explain all my options for my wisdom tooth and even when I had follow up questions after the visit, was available to discuss over the phone. Will definitely recommend to my friends and come back! Thanks Dr.Wang! 🙏
