Implant Crowns & Implant Bridges Specialist in New York

Restoring your missing teeth can give you the smile makeover you desire. In the past, dental patients had only two options for new teeth — dental bridges and dentures. Today, you can select from more efficient and effective dental implant options, including implant bridges and implant crowns in NYC.

Book Your Dental Appointment

209 NYC Dental offers all our patients’ implant abutment crowns and bridges in Manhattan. Our skilled restorative dentists and Dr. Jin Wang, our implant specialist, provide exceptional care from the extraction of the existing tooth to the implant placement and the implantation of the dental implants, bridges, or dentures. Your teeth will look natural when you replace damaged teeth using our advanced technology.

We encourage you to book your consultation with Dr. Wang today, or you can schedule an appointment with one of our restorative dentists if you already have implants and would like to get them replaced. The Benefits of Dental Implant Crowns

Leonard Linkow performed the first dental implant on a human in 1965. We have certainly learned a great deal since that time. Dr. Linkow replaced one tooth, and now we can reconstruct your smile entirely by using multiple implants as well as implant bridges or dentures. Our patients know we provide natural-looking dental fillings that replace damaged teeth to help your mouth look and function better.

What Is a Dental Implant Crown or Implant-Supported Bridge?

Implant crowns and implant bridges are supported by implants inserted into your mouth to replace missing teeth. The implant looks like a screw. We insert it into your jaw for deep support. A dental crown covers the implant.

Patients who need several teeth replaced may be candidates for implant-supported bridges. Depending on its length, the bridge can support three to 12 teeth.

When the patient lacks many teeth, full-mouth reconstruction may be necessary. We can restore the teeth using implant-supported dentures. Our implant crowns in NYC look entirely natural, so no one will suspect that the teeth are not the ones the patient was born with.

Parts of Implant-Supported Restorations

Implant Crown

Implant-supported restorations have three main parts:

  • Dental Implant: The screw that supports the restoration, which may be a crown or bridge.
  • Implant Abutment CrownThe middle of the implant, which connects the screw and the implant crown or fixed implant bridge.
  • Restoration: Either the crown or part of the bridge that finishes the implant and looks like a tooth.

Dental Implant Crown Types

209 NYC Dental offers two types of implant crowns in NYC. Both offer advantages to patients.

Screw-Retained Implant Crowns

A dentist talking to a patient about a dental implant bridge

The first type is a screw-retained implant crown. The screw fastens the dental implant abutment to the implant crown, which has a tiny opening. The dentist closes the opening using a matching bonding material.

The most significant benefit of a screw-retained implant crown or bridge is that if an implant abutment crown becomes loose, the dentist can retrieve the crown or bridge without causing any damage. In cases where many teeth must be replaced, dentists recommend using screw-retained implant bridges.

Cement-Retained Implant Crowns

The parts for cement-retained implant crowns are identical to those for screw-retained implant crowns. However, cement is used to secure the cement-retained implant crowns onto the abutment. This type of crown does not have an opening, so dentists may have difficulty removing it if it becomes loose and may need to make a hole in it.

Dentists do not recommend cement-retained implant crowns when a patient needs a large dental bridge.

Dental Implants vs Bridge, Which is Better?

A restored dental implant

You have several prosthetic options, which all have pros and cons. Our goal at 209 NYC Dental is to maintain the health of your teeth and gums while preserving as much of them as possible.

Feature Implants – supported restoration Fixed Bridge
Treatment Time 3-6 months (includes healing) 2-3 visits over a few weeks
Surgery Required Yes No surgery needed
Adjacent Teeth No impact on neighboring teeth Requires grinding down healthy teeth
Bone Health Prevents bone loss, preserves jaw structure No protection against bone loss
Cost Higher upfront investment Similar cost for 1-3 teeth if crowns needed
Maintenance Brush and floss like natural teeth Requires special cleaning tools (Waterpik, threader)
Best For Long-term solution, preserving bone, avoiding damage to adjacent teeth Quick solution when neighboring teeth already need crowns, avoiding surgery

Replacing one to few missing teeth in NYC

When replacing tow to three consecutive missing teeth, the choice of tooth replacement options often comes down to implants or dental bridges. Both are fixed solutions, but they work differently and suit different situations:

  • A fixed dental bridge like a dental implant replaces a missing tooth with a false tooth. This artificial tooth is called a pontic.
  • Unlike a dental implant that does not rely on other natural teeth for support, bridges function by adhering to the adjacent natural teeth to support the fake tooth, the pontic.
  • Unlike implant-supported restoration, crown or bridge, that require 3-6 months, traditional dental bridges are typically completed in just 2-3 visits.
  • Both bridge options can replace from one missing tooth to several missing teeth in a row.

When bridge is a good alternative to implant bridge?

  • Adjacent teeth already need crowns due to decay or large fillings
  • You want to avoid surgery or have medical conditions preventing it
  • You need a faster solution (important event, presentation, etc.)
  • Insufficient bone for implants and you want to avoid bone grafting
  • Budget constraints make implants cost-prohibitive
  • It is cost-effective to replace an old traditional bridge with a new one

How Much Do Dental Implant Bridges and Implant Crowns Cost in NYC?

Dental implant restorations include a fee for each part of our work, including the implant, implant restoration, and abutment. Many variables inform the final price, including:

  • Bone health.
  • Number of implants received.
  • Number of implant crowns required.

We support each patient’s right to select their solution based on the restoration’s comfort, aesthetics, and price. The cost of implant abutment crowns, bridges, and dentures varies. You should also consider how long each type of treatment will last. Implants display impressive longevity, balancing out the higher cost.

We offer flexible payment options, including generous payment plans. Our Patient Information page includes more details.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Do Implant Bridges Last?
A dental bridge may remain functional for 10-30 years or even longer.

A dental bridge may remain functional for 10-30 years or even longer. The best way to ensure its longevity is to brush, floss, and keep regular dental appointments.

What is the Difference Between Implant-Supported Crowns Vs. Abutment-Supported Crowns?
Implant-supported crowns do not require support from neighboring teeth.

An abutment-supported crown is placed on an abutment for additional support. They also depend on existing teeth, which may require reshaping a tooth’s surface. Implant-supported crowns can replace a missing tooth without needing support from neighboring teeth.

Can You Get Invisalign With Crowns and Bridges?
Yes, it is possible, though an examination is required to confirm eligibility.

Yes, it’s possible. However, a dental office would want to examine your teeth to assess if Invisalign is the most suitable option. This appointment will also help you find out dental bridge costs in NYC.

Are there alternatives to dental implants and bridges?
Removable partial dentures, full dentures, and flipper teeth require no surgery.

If you want to avoid both implants and bridges, removable options include partial dentures for some missing teeth or full dentures for an entire arch. These appliances rest on your gums and attach to remaining teeth (in the case of partials) or stay in place through suction and muscle control (for full dentures). Flipper teeth work as a temporary removable solution for one or two teeth. While removable options require daily cleaning and removal at night, they offer benefits like lower cost, faster treatment time, no surgery, and no alteration to existing teeth. Many Manhattan patients choose removable dentures when missing teeth throughout the mouth or when they want the most affordable option.

Testimonials

I was very lucky to have had a referral for this Dental Practice. From the wonderful staff at the front desk, who were very helpful and those who checked on my insurance to see if I was covered and this was all before I even had the actual appointment. This was my first time for a visit and I was greeted as if I had been going there forever. I was informed of what to expect and after I filled out my paperwork a lovely young lady came so I could have my x-rays which went well; then the hygienist came and got me - she looked over my x-rays and asked me some questions and then proceeded to clean my teeth. She did a wonderful job. Then the dentist came in for further examination and discussion of what my next steps should be. He was a wonderful doctor. This was a wonderful experience. Before today I was with the same dentist office for approximately 40 years and always adored them unfortunately, they retired. So, I am extremely thrilled to have found such a wonderful dental office and staff at 209 NYC Dental. I look forward to building a lasting relationship.
