As I walked into Dr. Wang for the initial surgical part of two implants I felt relaxed and enjoyed the environment in his room.
Two teeth had to be removed and thereafter the necessary procedure to follow. At no time did I feel uncomfortable and the process was conducted without me feeling any pain. No need for any pain killers after the surgery as well.
Having had similar procedures prior in other places, this was by far the most professional and efficient.
Dr. Wang has a great personality and charm and makes you feel good.
I highly recommend to have your dental surgical needs performed by Dr. Wang.
209 NYC dental is a very fine complete dental institution with a friendly and professional staff.

Amazing Dental Implants experience. Dr. Wang has great bedside manners. He is very gentle, patient and thoroughly explained the procedure. He set my mind at ease. His professionalism, skills and care are second to none. The surgery was done in a timely and precise manner, I didn’t even realize it was over. I had little to no discomfort after the surgery. Highly recommended.

Miraculous! Extraction and dental implant with no swelling or pain. Thank you so much.

I’ve now had three extractions and implants with Dr. Wang and I highly commend both his dental and people skills. He’s straightforward and engaging, and accurately previews the procedures and how they’ll feel, and what the results will be. The amazing thing about the implants is that in each case they have felt completely natural at the completion of the process. A true professional and a pleasure to deal with, and the results speak for themselves.
David L
Dr. Wang was very professional, and took his time explaining the implant procedure. He always made himself available , if I needed to express my concerns, or worries. I highly recommend him.

Why Choose a Single Tooth Dental Implant?
Natural Appearance
The porcelain crown is custom-fabricated to match your natural teeth. Dentists and patients cannot distinguish a well-placed tooth implant from a real tooth. Full chewing strength is restored from the day the final crown is placed, improving confidence and self esteem.
Prevents Bone Loss
The implant post stimulates the underlying bone the same way a natural tooth root does, helping prevent bone loss in the jaw. No other tooth replacement option preserves jawbone density.
Protects Surrounding Teeth
Unlike a bridge, a single dental implant does not require altering neighboring teeth. The tooth implant stands independently, keeping adjacent teeth healthy and intact. No filing, no crowns on surrounding teeth.
Easy Maintenance
Caring for a tooth implant is the same as caring for natural teeth. Brush, floss, and visit the dentist for routine cleanings. No special tools, adhesives, or removal routines required.
40-Year Implant Longevity Study
In a landmark study offering a 38- to 40-year follow-up, researchers tracked patients who received single-tooth implants to treat gaps caused by dental trauma or aplasia. The findings revealed an exceptional 95.6% implant survival rate with remarkably stable bone levels over the four decades. However, while the titanium implants proved highly permanent, only 60.9% of the original crowns survived the 40-year period, as many required replacement primarily for aesthetic reasons rather than technical failures.

Zirconia implant crowns provide exceptional strength and a naturally white appearance. Zirconia mimics the translucency of real teeth, making the material highly suitable for front tooth replacements. Porcelain crowns with a precious metal substructure offer strong durability for back teeth. However, opaque porcelain must mask the underlying metal, which reduces the natural aesthetic of the replacement tooth. Patients choose Zirconia over porcelain when replacing visible front teeth because Zirconia allows light to pass through naturally and blends perfectly with adjacent teeth.
A seamless transformation featuring a single tooth implant by Dr. Jin Wang paired with a high-translucency Zirconia crown by Dr. Yasmika Reddy. This procedure restores full aesthetics without affecting the health of adjacent teeth.Expert single tooth replacement at 209 NYC Dental. What Is a Single Tooth Dental Implant?
A single tooth implant is a permanent replacement for one missing tooth. The implant replaces both the tooth root and the visible crown, creating a stable new tooth that looks, feels, and functions like your natural teeth. Unlike bridges or partial dentures, a single implant stands on its own without relying on neighboring teeth for support.
A single tooth implant consists of three parts:
Implant post: A titanium screw surgically placed into the jawbone through a small hole. The post acts as a new tooth root and fuses with the bone over 3-6 months.
Abutment: A connector piece attached to the implant post after the jaw has fully healed. Abutment placement is a brief procedure at the gum tissue line.
Custom porcelain crown: The visible replacement tooth, fabricated to match the color, shape, and size of your remaining teeth. 209 NYC Dental works with one of the highest quality dental labs in the Tri-State area for porcelain implant crowns in NYC.
A single dental implant preserves the health of adjacent teeth and stimulates the jawbone, helping prevent bone loss that occurs after extraction. Single tooth replacement with a dental implant is one of the most common procedures in implant dentistry.
Who Is a Candidate for a Dental Implant?
Most adults who are missing a single tooth are candidates for a dental implant. Dr. Jin Wang evaluates every patient during the initial consultation to determine whether a tooth implant is the right treatment for their situation.
Good candidates for implant procedures typically meet these criteria:
One missing tooth due to injury, decay, failed root canal, or gum disease in any area of the mouth
Healthy gum tissue without active periodontal infection at the implant site
Adequate bone structure in the jaw to support a titanium implant post
Good general dental health and commitment to proper care after implant placement
What if I don’t have enough bone for a dental implant?
Patients whose jawbone has lost density from prolonged tooth loss may need preparatory procedures before the implant procedure. Bone grafting in NYC adds material to the jaw, rebuilding the bone so it can support an implant. A bone graft adds 3-6 months of healing time before surgery, but allows patients who were previously told they lacked enough bone to still receive single dental implants.
Single Tooth Dental Implant Process
The implant process involves multiple steps spread over 4-6 months. Each step of the implant procedure is designed to produce the strongest, most natural-looking replacement tooth possible.
A professional look at the tooth replacement process at 209 NYC Dental using digital X-rays. This sequence shows the transition from a failing tooth with bone loss to a successful dental implant. The clinical steps include a tooth extraction, a socket preservation bone graft to keep the jawbone strong, and the surgical placement of a permanent titanium implant. This procedure restores the patient’s ability to chew and maintains the natural alignment of the jaw.
The Dental Implant Process Step by Step
1
Consultation and Treatment Plan
(1 visit)
Dr. Wang reviews your medical history, examines your mouth, jawbone, gum tissue, and surrounding teeth. Standard digital imaging reveals the bone structure at the implant site. Dr. Wang utilizes advanced 3D CT scans to evaluate sinus proximity and bone depth only when complex anatomical conditions exist. You receive a written treatment plan with transparent pricing before any procedure begins.
2
Dental Implant Placement
(1 visit)
Dr. Wang surgically places the titanium implant post into the jaw through a small incision under local anesthetic. The implant procedure typically takes 30-60 minutes for a single implant. Most patients report minimal discomfort. Sedation options are available but rarely needed.
3
Healing Period
(3-6 months)
The jawbone bonds with the implant post during a process called osseointegration. The bone grows around and into the surface of the titanium post, creating a stable foundation. The healing period lasts 3-6 months. During this time, the implant becomes fully healed and locked into the jaw. A temporary tooth can be worn for a natural appearance.
4
Crown Placement
(2 visit)
After the jaw has healed, Dr. Wang completes abutment placement and takes an impression for your custom porcelain crown. The dental lab fabricates a crown that matches your natural teeth. The final crown is placed 2-3 weeks later, completing the entire process.
The total implant process from consultation to final crown takes 4-6 months for most patients. Some patients qualify for same-day dental implants in NYC, which allow implant placement and a temporary crown on the same day as tooth extraction. Dr. Wang determines candidacy for same-day surgery during the consultation.
Frequently Asked Questions About Single Dental Implants in NYC
How much does a single tooth implant cost without insurance in NYC? $3,000-$8,000 depending on bone grafting and crown type.
Without insurance, the total cost of a tooth implant in New York City ranges from $3,000 to $8,000. The cost includes three components: the implant post ($1,500-$3,000), the abutment ($500-$1,000), and the porcelain crown ($1,000-$3,000). Bone grafting adds $500-$2,000 if the jaw lacks sufficient bone structure. 209 NYC Dental provides a detailed written estimate before treatment begins. We offer CareCredit financing with 0% interest for 6 months for affordable dental implants.
How much does a single dental implant cost with insurance? Varies by plan. We verify your benefits first.
With insurance, the out-of-pocket cost of a single implant depends on your specific plan. Some PPO plans cover a percentage of the surgical phase (implant placement), most cover the restorative phase (crown), or both. Most plans have an annual maximum of $1,000-$2,000, so patients typically pay $1,500-$3,000 out of pocket even with coverage. Our treatment coordinators submit a pre-authorization to your insurance company before treatment begins. You receive a written estimate of your copay before committing.
Does insurance cover single tooth dental implants in New York? Most PPO plans cover part of the procedure.
Most PPO plans provide partial coverage for dental implants. Some plans cover the crown and abutment but exclude the implant post itself. Other plans provide coverage for all implant post and its restoration. Coverage varies widely between insurance plans. 209 NYC Dental accepts most major PPO plans and handles all claims and paperwork on your behalf. We verify your benefits before treatment starts so you know exactly what your plan covers.
At 209 NYC Dental, Board Certified Periodontist Dr. Jin Wang and Dr. Hyun Woo, D.M.D., M.S., M.S. perform single dental implant procedures. Our general dentists Dr. Ben Ifraimov, Dr. Dmitry Nikitayev, Dr. Yasmika Reddy, and Dr. Stella Park complete the final crown for a natural finish. The office is located at 209 East 56th Street in Midtown East Manhattan, between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. The practice is two blocks from the 4, 5, 6, N, R, W trains at 59th Street and three blocks from the E, F trains at Lexington Ave/53rd Street. Open 7 days a week for patient convenience.
How long does the dental implant process take from start to finish? 4-6 months from consultation to final crown.
The entire implant process for a single tooth takes 4-6 months. The first visit is a consultation where Dr. Wang evaluates your mouth, jaw, and bone structure. Dental implant placement is performed in a single visit lasting 30-60 minutes under anesthesia. The healing period (osseointegration) takes 3-6 months as the jawbone fuses with the implant post. After the jaw has healed, abutment placement and crown delivery require 2 additional visits. Some patients qualify for same-day dental implant placement, which shortens the process.
Is a tooth implant or bridge better for replacing one missing tooth? Dental implants are the gold standard.
A single dental implant is the preferred tooth replacement for a single missing tooth because the implant preserves jawbone density and does not alter adjacent teeth. A bridge is faster (2-3 weeks vs. 4-6 months) and may cost less initially ($2,500-$6,000 vs. $3,000-$8,000), though a 3-unit bridge and a tooth implant often cost a similar amount at the same practice. A bridge requires filing down the healthy teeth on both sides of the gap, and bridges typically last 7-15 years before needing replacement. A dental implant lasts 20+ years with proper care. Dr. Wang and our general dentists help patients weigh both options based on dental health, budget, and timeline.
Can I get individual dental implants if I have several missing teeth? Yes, you can for each missing tooth.
Yes. Patients can receive individual implants for each missing tooth when the gaps are in different areas of the mouth. Each individual implant is placed independently and supports its own crown. Dr. Wang may recommend an implant-supported bridge when multiple teeth are missing in a row. The bridge uses two implants to support three or more replacement teeth. The choice between individual implants and an implant-supported bridge depends on where the missing teeth are located, the condition of the jawbone, and the patient’s treatment goals. Our team reviews the best approach based on your oral health.
How do I manage pain after a single tooth implant surgery? Use OTC meds and ice packs.
At 209 NYC Dental, we advise our patients to manage discomfort after single tooth implant surgery using over-the-counter pain relief medications like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. We recommend taking your first dose of pain medication before the local anesthesia wears off to stay ahead of any soreness. Applying an ice pack to the outside of your cheek for twenty minutes at a time helps reduce swelling and numbs the surgical area during the first forty-eight hours. Most minor pain resolves within three to five days as the gum tissue begins to heal around the implant site. If you experience sharp pain or throbbing that increases after the third day, please contact our office immediately so our doctors can ensure your implant site is healing correctly.
What can I eat immediately after dental implant placement? Stick to soft foods for 7-10 days.
You must stick to a soft food diet for the first seven to ten days after your single tooth implant is placed. Choosing the right foods prevents irritation to the surgical site and protects the blood clot that is necessary for healing. Avoid using straws for the first twenty-four hours because the suction can dislodge the blood clot and cause a painful condition called dry socket.
Greek yogurt and cottage cheese provide high protein levels to support tissue repair.
Lukewarm soups and broths offer hydration without the risk of burning sensitive gum tissue.
Mashed potatoes and soft avocados are easy to chew and contain essential nutrients.
Fruit smoothies deliver vitamins but should be eaten with a spoon rather than a straw.
Scrambled eggs serve as a soft, protein-rich meal option that requires minimal chewing effort.
Applesauce and mashed bananas satisfy sweet cravings without introducing hard seeds or crunch.
How do I clean and maintain a single tooth implant? Brush and floss like natural teeth.
You must clean a single tooth implant just as thoroughly as a natural tooth to prevent a localized gum disease called peri-implantitis. Plaque can still build up on the implant crown and the surrounding gum line, which can lead to bone loss if left untreated. Use a soft-bristled manual toothbrush or an electric toothbrush to clean the crown surfaces twice every day. You should use unwaxed dental floss or a specialized implant flosser to clean the space where the implant meets the gum tissue. Low-abrasive toothpaste is the best choice because it will not scratch the porcelain surface of your new tooth. Professional dental cleanings every six months allow your hygienist to remove hardened deposits using instruments designed specifically for titanium or zirconia implants.

I was very lucky to have had a referral for this Dental Practice. From the wonderful staff at the front desk, who were very helpful and those who checked on my insurance to see if I was covered and this was all before I even had the actual appointment.
This was my first time for a visit and I was greeted as if I had been going there forever. I was informed of what to expect and after I filled out my paperwork a lovely young lady came so I could have my x-rays which went well; then the hygienist came and got me - she looked over my x-rays and asked me some questions and then proceeded to clean my teeth. She did a wonderful job. Then the dentist came in for further examination and discussion of what my next steps should be. He was a wonderful doctor.
This was a wonderful experience. Before today I was with the same dentist office for approximately 40 years and always adored them unfortunately, they retired. So, I am extremely thrilled to have found such a wonderful dental office and staff at 209 NYC Dental. I look forward to building a lasting relationship.
